( the issue with the player has been fixed)

A great and insightful interview of VII Manager Stephen Mayes. You want to understand where the photo industry is going, you have to listen to him :

Thank you Gerald Holubowicz

3 Thoughts on “The Future of Photojournalism (Fixed)

Um, the video loops through an ad, and the video never plays. I’m an old Photonica shooter, and I’d love to hear what he has to say.

  2. It’s been fixed. It was an issue with the player provider

  3. Some interesting stuff here but I’m always struck by how these visions of the future tend to be very specific about what’s on the way out (licences for single image use apparently although can’t say we’ve seen much evidence of that yet) but very vague about what’s coming in as a replacement. I deas like trans-media sound thrilling enough but are remarkably short on detail.

I’m also intrigued by how VII photographers are paid for the work that appears in VII’s own magazine – do they get a flat usage fee (presumably not as single image licences are out), are they commissioned to produce work for the magazine, are they staff, do they get a royalty share for magazine sales/advertising revenue?
